Have you seen the Historic District lately? Flags and bunting all over The District. A giant flag hanging on the trestle bridge. It is looking incredibly festive, ready for 4th of July, the Folsom Pro Rodeo, and dark-of-night fireworks. I love the old-time charm of the look. It reminds me of main streets and cowboys, bars and ice cream parlors, general stores and livery stables….oh wait…that’s what we are….or at least where we came from. How lucky are we that this living history town is still alive and well, still a lively business district, right here in our own city?

So much fun to be had in The District in July, seems like high season around here. The flags are up, prepping for 4th of July fun. Real cowboys and rodeo stuff will be a real part of The District this month. There is ice cream to beat the heat. The Peach Festival is coming to the Farmer’s Market on July 15th…there are already over 100 vendors signed up. Who said Georgia was the only place that had peaches going on?

The Twilight Concert Series continues, with a rocking house happening last night featuring The Cash Prophets. Incredible! Don’t miss the upcoming concerts…they happen each Thursday night, but only through July. Heckle, our new burgers and brew pub, is running food service in the amphitheatre during these events. Come and plant a chair, then order from Matt (who is roaming within the crowd), and he’ll bring your order to you when it’s ready. Just like restaurant service, except outside in the amphitheatre. Crazy good idea, huh?

Have you noticed that the new building that is going up on the plaza has broken ground? It’s going to done in approximately a year.  The ground floor will house Scott’s Seafood, with offices on the second floor. What a great addition to The District that will be.
