We connected with Jenna Barreras to learn more about Glory Art Gallery & Studio at 713 A Sutter Street.
What is Glory Art Gallery & Studio, how would you describe it to a friend?
Glory Art Gallery & Studio is a business that showcases the artwork of one local artist, me, Jenna Barreras.
I also have studio space where I work on new pieces of art and let my creativity flow. It is a fun, vibrant atmosphere with joy bouncing off the bright colors of the artwork.
Why did you start the business? What do you hope to accomplish?
I started this business to showcase my artwork in an organic, person-to-person way.
I want to meet and create friendships with the people and artists that are interested in my work and also be a part of the local community.
What's something you wish people knew about your business?
I want people to know the meaning behind the name Glory.
This past year of traveling abroad was very difficult and when I came back to Folsom in July, I was dealing with post traumatic stress from all of the experiences overseas.
When God gave me the opportunity of a lifetime to have my own gallery and studio, I realized and remembered the biblical truth that what Satan means for evil, God means for good.
God only has a plan A, not a plan B and I wouldn't have this opportunity without all the experiences I went through this past year. So all the glory to Him!!
What is a common question you get or what is your most popular product or service (thus far)?
A common question I get is if I do painting lessons and the answer is that I do!
I do private lessons and group lessons. All ages are welcomed and encouraged.
Glory Art Gallery & Studio is a kid friendly haven!
What's the biggest compliment you've received (thus far)?
The biggest compliment I have received thus far is when people come in to take a look at my art and stay to spend time and talk about my art, life, experiences, family, and stories.
To have a place where people feel comfortable to stop, relax and enjoy and share the space with me...that's the biggest compliment I could ever receive. I love meeting the community and hearing people's ideas, life stories, and hearts.
Are/will you involved with or do/will you support any local nonprofits, community organizations or causes?
I do support local nonprofits and community organizations. I also allow organizations to post flyers in the window.
Why did you choose to be in the Historic District?
Growing up in Folsom, coming to Sutter Street was (and still is) a treat! To stroll along the streets, check out antiques, grab a root beer float, or go out to dinner with family and see friends...the Historic District is the heart of Folsom and I am so honored to now be apart of it.
Do you have any upcoming events, specials or new products/services that people should know about?
I will be having a live music and appetizer event and will have the information on my facebook page soon.
Also, I am doing a mystery painting raffle every other week. It is $10 for one raffle ticket and $25 for 3. It is a painting by me all wrapped up and displayed on an easel right by the door. Each raffle, the painting varies in size ranging from 14 inches by 14 inches to 3 feet by 4 feet or even larger!
Lastly, I do private lessons, group lessons, art parties, commissions, and space rental.
